OUR MATERIALS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CERTIFICATIONS
We prioritize organic or recycled materials that care for your skin and the environment. We hold the strictest environmental certifications and labels on the market throughout our entire production chain.

ORGANIC COTTON
The majority of our garments are made entirely of organic cotton. Organic cotton is a natural, GMO-free fiber that requires significantly less water consumption than conventional cotton. More importantly, its production does not require chemicals (neither fertilizers nor pesticides) and encourages crop rotation to keep soils healthier, more fertile, and humid. As for the waste generated by cotton ginning, it is recycled for the animal feed industry.

OUR GOTS CERTIFICATION: 4 LETTERS THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE
GOTS stands for the Global Organic Textile Standard. It is the strictest certification for organic fiber textiles. It ensures traceability across the entire production chain starting from the cotton fields: harvesting, fiber manufacturing, garment assembly, the final product before printing, and even the export of our clothing. It certifies that the cotton we use at Burgao is grown without GMOs or chemicals, and is processed and dyed without using prohibited toxic substances. Furthermore, GOTS guarantees compliance with the International Labour Organization's social standards throughout the entire production chain.

RECYCLED POLYESTER
At Burgao, we use recycled polyester as a complement (at a 15% ratio) to organic cotton for our sweatshirts. One sweatshirt allows for the recycling of 7 to 8 PET plastic bottles. To ensure that our sweatshirts feel soft against your skin, it never comes into direct contact with the polyester, which is sandwiched between two layers of organic cotton.

OUR GRS CERTIFICATION: WE RECYCLE!
The Global Recycled Standard label certifies that the materials used are recycled: in the case of polyester, from plastic bottles, and for cotton, from cutting waste. GRS also guarantees compliance with social and environmental criteria, such as wastewater treatment, the absence of certain toxic additives, and compliance with working conditions in our partner factories.

OEKO-TEX: TRUST YOUR CLOTHES WITH YOUR EYES CLOSED!
Trust cannot be bought; it is earned. The OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certifies the absence of harmful chemical substances in all the products we work with at Burgao, thanks to the "Confidence in textile" label. An independent control and certification system that guarantees special treatment for all raw textile materials, intermediate products, and finished goods:

• The precautionary principle, which prohibits certain potentially harmful substances even if they are not (yet) legally banned.

• The absence of chemical substances harmful to health and the environment.

• Limits on the level of lead used in dyes.

PETA CERTIFICATION
We are also pleased to announce that our t-shirts and sweatshirts are PETA-certified. This means that no animal testing is conducted or commissioned on ingredients, formulations, or finished products, and we pledge never to do so. In addition, our clothing is made from 100% vegan materials, so you can be sure that no harm was done to anyone during its creation.
